Ministers to shelve 50p broadband tax

It has been rumoured that the 50p per month telephone line tax has been shelved, at least until after the election.  I have long preferred the option of opening up the BT infrastructure to competition rather than using taxation to fund the expansion of broadband into rural areas.  I guess there is not enough cross party support to push this through in the rush to pass laws before the election. So…. let’s see what happens after May 6th.
